The first step is to attend real estate school. The cost for this education is around $360.00, classes last 7-9 weeks depending on class schedule or there is an accelerated plan where it can be done in just 2 weeks. There are several instructors in Fort Wayne and surrounding areas offering these classes offering sales and brokers, but we here at Dedicated highly recommend Bob Troyer. Information on his classes can be found by visiting http://www.troyerschool.com After satisfactory completion of 54 hours of classroom and at least a 75% average of the 3 test given from that class you are then ready to take the test exam. The cost for the state exam is $65.00 and they are only offered in Indianapolis or Merrillville, IN After that you need to decide on a broker to hold your license so that you may practice real estate. There are many brokers out there to choose from and you should take the time to interview with each and every one of them to help you best make a decision. Once your broker has been selected you will need to send a $25.00 money order payable to the Indiana Real Estate Commission along with your completion of examination form showing your passed the state test. Your broker will fill out the form appropriately and send it for you. The just when you thought you were all done, you now need to become a member of the National Association of Realtors and pay your annual local membership as well. Together these are about $480.00 a year, but depending on what month you join, they will be prorated accordingly for you. You will then need to become a member of the Multiple Listing Service. This cost $11.00 per week and they are paid on a quarterly basis and in advance. Now you are ready to get out there and start selling.
